Super 44

I got a si/so flowmaster super 44 put on my '99 5.4 back in january. I love the sound and tone of the of it and of chambered mufflers in general, however, i am slightly disappointed with the overall volume. anyone know another chambered that is louder than super 44s?

I have the same truck with the same muffler. I couldn't find any chambered louder, but what I did was upgrade to running 3" pipe from the y-pipe back. That increased the volume a lot and I was very satisfied.

You could try the Flowmaster Super 10 series. Pretty loud sound even with all 4 cats. But if its still not loud enough, put on some hi flows with the 10 series

The 4 catalytic converters is the issue. Remove and replace with2 magnaflow hi-flow units.

Check summit racing if you can do them yourself. You can actually sell your old cats, the insides are worth some money. If you dont have any means of getting it done other than a shop you might be looking at 400-475 installed but of course the price will vary by region and some shops will keep your old cats and say they have to because they are cores. They are just going to scrap them themselves in most cases. But if that price is to steep, look into the super 10s. They arent obnoxiously loud so hopefully the smokeys wont mess with you.

Go to performancePeddler, use the discount code "clubgp" and order a pair of 94106 magnaflow cats. You will be much happier.

I had the exact same problem you are having now. I ran a SI/SO super 44 for almost 3 years and i was never full satisfied. I switched to a SI/DO super 10 about 2 months ago and i LOVE the sound. very full and throaty. sounds exactly like a truck should!

Man relax it ain't like its gonna be dumped manifolds or nothing, its still going to have a muffler and cats, unless you are mashing on it through town and stuff im sure you will be fine...I drove around for a week with dumped manifolds on my 04 5.4 and never got so much as a raised eyebrow from local pd/so or fhp.

I thought they dropped Magnaflow products with the site change and some lawful corrections.

I didnt want to cough up the extra dough to run the extra tailpipe either so i dumped both pipes right after the rear axle. looks clean, sounds amazing. my roommate compliments the sound every time he rides somewhere with me. still havent had any issues with the police either and i havent really been worried about it. its nowhere near obnoxious. just sounds great
