2001 F150 5.4 MAP or MAF sensor or whatever…

Last night I am driving when the truck just loses power. Not sure what is happening then it picks up and runs for about another mile. Truck stops engine runs but no power. A person pulled over to help as I am stuck at an intersection.
He asked me about the sensors saying he had a truck like this one miles so on and so on… I removed the air filter housing because it sounds as if the engine is chocking it’s self out. He moves the MAF housing fresh air gets inside and the truck fires up and runs. Now I know from this first picture that the MAF sensor comes in from the bottom and is pictured.

What is this in the second picture? He unplugged this cable and everything was running good.

Intake air temp sensor IAT (#2 pic) but it shouldnt cause any major driveability issues. If the maf was bad you would have a code for sure. Take a very close look and see if the little wires are broken/chafed/whatever, they are sensitive. Have you checked for CEL codes? Could be alot of things..

I have not checked anything. This happened last night and I'm at work today. All I really know is truck wasn't working and when he unplugged that cable it started running fine. One other thing. Last night driving home the SES light was not on. It didn't come on till this morning.
