Improving Magnapack
Improving Magnapack
Right now I'm running a Magnapack in place of the factory muffler with a 4" tip in the factory exit. It sounds great on cold starts and through about 2k-2500 RPMs but after that you tend to hear more motor than exhaust. I don't want drone or it to be annoying on long rides which it isn't now, but wish it really growled through all RPMS. Suggestions?

Stock piping from the Y to the muffler then stock from muffler to tip. 2.5" i believe?
I'll see if I can't find a way to get a video.

What I am trying to explain here, is that is impossible to engineer a perfect muffler. Even if you did, it would act different on every vehicle, and on every system.
So... get used to it or buy a new 5.0 mustang and throw a stinger exhaust on it!
haha
3" tailpipe or dual tails with 12" long tips.
Hey there! Been awhile since I have seen your prowling the exhaust section with your high sense of humor!
True duals will drone real well.

Don't know if this is much help but my magnaflow catback that came on my Lightning did what you described, I called it falling on it's face. I have since removed it and used an x-pipe from the cats to two dynomax bullets (you could use the magnapacks in place). It's drones a little bit but it's nothing like cars I've ridden in with flowmasters and exhausts like that. It's very aggressive sounding throughout the entire RPM range now. I'm sure with a quieter/ larger muffler you could control the drone and still get a good tone out of it.
O' Exhaust Emperor!

Kinda surprising to see MGD act so smart *** like though, he's usually really cool and pretty funny, always pushes the mods nerves lol. I'm the "Exhaust Emperor" to him lol.
But as said, its fun to be on here with the mix breed of pickups/subaru's and to have such easy going online parents for when the forum kids get a little wild

To the OP:
Well, it looks like you're running the 'right' MP for the sound you're after, but it also looks like you're searching for that exhaust Holy Grail.
Ain't no sich thang! If you want more volume, drone will start to be an issue, and as others have pointed out, more volume throughout the RPM range means more volume overall.
If you want it louder, true duals or SI/DO may be the route you want to go. Remember, with the stock exit point you have now, that's about the furthest point away from the driver's seat. You won't be able to hear it as well with that exit style verses some form of 'dual' exit.
