1 More Gotts vs. CAI

Just because I know you want to read another Gotts vs. CAI thread...

To me the Gotts is a no brainer. However, My hood has functional air scoops that empty into the engine bay right where an airbox would sit. I have to imagine the hood was designed with that in mind. My question is, does that mean I may make better use of a CAI? (I'm thinking K&N FIPK) I may also see if I can have a custom box fab'd so I'll have a true forced air setup, or maybe I could seal up the FIPK with the hood when closed???

I also have an 05 5.4L which I believe has a lean issue without a tuner? I wanted to get one anyway, perhaps I should get that first?

What do ya'll think?

Thats a bad*** setup by the way. Not familiar with intakes related to hood scoops so no help from me just wanteed to compliment the setup.

ive seen kits for the stock air intake to work with "ram air" hoods like that. did they look practical, not really. in your situation id say a CAI with a tune to go with it would really prevent cutting up the stock air intake, and major headache later on.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the compliments

As usual, when I consider a project, a few curves get thrown. I received some PM's that have me considering scrubbing the whole thing.
This thread was sent to me which has the forced air set up ruled out

https://www.f150online.com/forums/ch...-question.html

About 10 years ago, I was tring to mess with the airflow of my Camaro, but learned I couldn't because of the MAF. If I would have had one a few years newer, it would have had a speed density system and I could have ran a forced air setup...until I read the thread I had forgotten all about that.

I want to do as many mods as I can, but not at the risk of my engine. I like the sound a CAI would give but its not worth runnig lean.

I think I'm back to the drawing board at the moment???
