Gotts mod is this common

So after reading about the Gott's mod i decided to pull the trigger and do it figuring if i didnt like it, it would be easy to go back to stock. anyway after i installed everything and took it out for a test run i couldnt believe the diference it had made, but whenever i went to stop my truck wanted to stall out im just wondering if this is a common problem or not

Didnt experience this on my 01. Did you disconnect your battery and let the computer reset itself. Have read some about later trucks running lean, does this apply to your model????

my truck never did that. nor did my cousins husbands f150. I dont think it is common. but try cleaning the MAF and TB.that would probably be your best bet

First what size motor are you talking about? if it's the 5.4 3 Valve try reading this link...https://www.f150online.com/forums/ar...3-f-150-a.html
post #6 states "the 3 valve motors require the tuner for the intake mods

I would recomend an Xcal2, Xcal3, gryphon or diablo with custom tunes for you and your truck VS canned tunes even though a tune would not be required to see benefits from this mod (you will see more increase with a tune)"

It is actually just the 04-05s with the 5.4 3v.

Hope this helps

I actually pulled a K&N system off of my 05 with the 5.4 because of the lean problem frying my plugs. Did the Gotts mod and have not had any issues even without a CAI programmer .

with the 4.6 you should have been good. check all the connections to the hoses and wires, clean the TB and MAF. make sure the clamps are tight, other than that?? Just wondering... can you put your tune back to stock, run it and see what it does? If that cures it, disconnect the battery again, wait a bit, reconnect it and the reload your program. Just a thought...

The "Gotts" mod does not lead to a lean condition, it does not require a tune, it does not change the location of the MAF as related to air filter or TB ...
... all because it does keep the stock filter box, all it does is change the snorkle.

CAIs need some tuning because they change the air filter, housing, yubing, location of MAF as related to filter and TB. They change everything in front of the TB.

Well I have 59000 on my truck now , would it hurt to clean the tb and Maf with not that many miles on it. If so I will do it tomorrow and see what happens from there. And yes I can change it back to stock and try that also
