Smile delete rear cats? 2001 screw

Installed a dynomax bullet on my Si/So on my stock 2.5 inch exhaust. Next question is, delete rear cats or not. Still want a clean sound but more noise. What you guys think, delete them or no?

Do you know if it will lose the tone and just be obnoxious?

It will not lose tone with the mufflers in. You will gain a LOT of volume is all, which is not a bad thing.

My old truck before rear cats removed.

Big audible difference for the better.

My plan is to get rid of the 4 stockers and go with 2 Mag high flows. Ive heard alot others and they sound great. But that is on my stock high flow exhaust.

Do you lose anything by removing the cats?? Isn't illegal in some states?? Looking to get a new exhaust done on my truck and Magna Flow sounds the best.

No you do not lose any horsepower/torque. If anything, you gain by removing a restriction in the flow path of the exhaust. I gained 0.3mpg on my average mileage on my old truck from the rear cat delete. Very minor, and it could have just been weather differences, but there was a in-noticeable improvement for the better.

Altering OEM equipment, which removing 2 of 4 cats, is indeed not very legal, but it will not get you impounded or fined. Just some rejection on getting inspected whether your annual or bi-annual inspected. Some places don't know, some mechanics won't care, it all depends. My inspection guy looks in detail on vehicles and says he barely feels right passing my vehicles since most usually have altered exhausts, dark tints, and dark tail lamps, but he lets me go on it and inspects it.
