Dang. i like it. I am still waiting on my parts to come in.. The warehouse sent out too much product and instead of calling back just the stuff that was extra they recalled the whole order.

 

I hate when companies do that. Of course, without all the parts you can't really do much anyways though I suppose. Are you getting the same setup as I have?

I would say that this system is probably the pinnacle of what I would be able to tolerate volume wise. I have seen some people mention "mellow" with regards to their Magnapack systems so I am guessing they must have something different than I do. haha It is LOUD outside. Inside it isn't too bad once you get up to cruising speed. As you go through the gears, it is somewhat loud inside but nothing I would consider intolerable and it doesn't stay that way the entire time. If it stayed like that ALL the time I would probably have to get something else.

My wife said she is "ok" with it and it isn't so bad once she got used to it, but she also said maybe I should try the "XR-1 thingy I was looking at before". LOL

 

Sounds incredible as these always sound on 5.4Ls. Nice job!

But to my requested question from earlier, how does your low end energy feel with the 3" midpipe? Do you feel any seat-of-pants loss or economical gain?

I feel the opposite. Riding in my old truck as a passenger I was amazed with how loud it sounded inside when trying to listen to the driver talk. However when I was driver and the passenger was in front I could communicate much better.

I haven't really felt any loss at all on the low-end. Strangely enough, it seems like gas mileage has improved somewhat as well. I am not sure if it is from the free-flow design (I'm pretty sure the Corsa is as well) or the fact that the Magnapack sounds/feels like it is producing more power through the entire rpm range so I am not pushing it as hard. According to my gauge (which I know is inaccurate to an extent), I picked up some better mileage on my 125+ mile trip home from the shop as well as over the past few days. The truck feels "stronger"/more torquey (is that a word? lol) if that makes any sense. Impossible to tell without dyo testing but it does feel pretty solid.

 

Well that's good then. It's honestly not even so much my fiance that would mind. She tends to like it to sound aggressive since it's a "manly" vehicle. She HATES the drone though which I don't blame her for. It's really everyone else that rides with me that tends to bitch the most.

 

Tell them they can complain when they start making the payments. Haha

 

Mine will sound pretty similiar. I am doing an X-pipe up front (only part i recieved two days after i ordered) then two 4x14 magnapakcs ran to the rear with two 4"x18" Maggie Rolled tips. magpacks and tips are what im waiting on. Dang it i hate waiting this long.

Glad you're happy with the Magnapack system. This is the second time I've used one on a 5.4L and in my opinion it doesn't get much better and I've tried a few different setups (okay....... maybe I've tried a lot of different setups!).

I had the tips/pipes adjusted today so everything is evened out. (Im OCD like that. lol)

Interstingly though, and maybe somebody here could help out, it seems like after my adjustment I lost a good amout of volume. Is this perhaps because I just drove 125+ miles and the truck had only bee sitting for an hour (ie was it warmed up?)? The only thing they adjusted was the height of the left side and the tips were moved about a half a inch in so both sides were even with the side of the truck.

Right when I started driving it seemed like the truck was quieter and my wife agreed. She said it probably souds the way it is supposed to know since the tips/pipes were uneven before. lol I would think if there was an exhaust leak somewhere it would be pretty noticable. I am just a little bit worried now since it seems quieter.

*EDIT* I just checked the videos I made and it sounds a LOT different. That deep/throaty sound is almost non-existent now. Dare I say "quiet". Wtf. I started a new thread to get some opinions. Hope that is cool with the mods.

 

Yea I definitely know what you mean about being quieter. Because the first week or two with my Magnapacks, it sounded as if I had Electric Cutouts or something. The truck was stupid loud! Now, after having them for about a month and a half, they are very tame BUT don't get me wrong, their tame-gressive [Tame & Aggressive together if that makes since] LOL! Magnaflows are packed with wool material, so if I'm not mistaken (Someone correct me if I'm wrong) after a while, the wool kinda breaks in and they will get a little more aggressive with time! It happend with my old setup after having my Oval Bodys for 8 months! I really started liking the sound of those but wanted something more aggressive. I've heard guys say that after having these mufflers for about a year, they got so loud that they switched to Oval Bodies due to the loudness. So I guess there is some "BREAK IN" point with them. When I'm cruising, its very deep! When I get on it from a 30 or from a Dig, my truck sounds like a Ford that I've never heard before...ahhh its amazing and for that, that's why my MPG sucks *****. Ehh, but o well! I know when to act right. But I think the sound is still there, probably not as loud as it was the first day or two after being installed. What really got me about my truck, was that I got so use to it, that I thought my Magnapacks were starting to get quiet like you are now. To put a end to that thought, I had my brother drive it around town [Taking it easy & aggressively]. Oooo boy, why did I do that? The truck sounded like the Lightnings & Harleys I hear at the Raceway on Friday nights. It was amazing! It was all motor, deep, aggressive, Big-Block [Hence the 4.6 haha] LOUD sounding. I heard him miles away... & I had the biggest smile on my face from then on KNOWING how my truck really sounded. So maybe, let the wife drive it for ya [Aggresive & Cruising], sit back, and listen a little! You might just be suprised at what you'll hear. The cool thing about these F-150's is the Sound Deadning material they use for the passengers inside of the cab. Now, when I drive my truck and get on it, I see why people look at me the way they do! Truck sounds amazing, all while being tolerable in the cab!
