Ok I just spoke to the co-owner of the shop (Option #1) and let him know what I was looking for and basically what I was told. He laughed and said, "Factory Y to the Muffler in stainless, your muffler, your Y-Pipe, and 2.5" full mandrel bent stainless all the way back for $250 and I'll have it done in 3 hours. Just let me know the day before you get here."

Sounds good to me.

Bingo, it takes away money the make. I totally sympathize with them. As my dad says, it's like bringing steak to a steak house. That's why I try not to do it. But I'm gonna see if I get a certain XR-1 and have my shop weld it in and a new y for me this summer.

304 or 409 Stainless?

The shop told me I could pick one. The higher grade one is more expensive (of course).

304, might as well if you can afford it. 409 is good, but does get surface rust. 304 will not for a long time, if at all.

Go for it, $250 is an amazing deal for mandrel, I spent $400 on 304ss smooth bend and parts supplied. I was gonna do it in alluminized steel, but as the owner pointed out, all my parts are stainless, consider keeping it all stainless...then again I am in New England...

One thing I don't follow though...you are doing a y pipe where? replacing existing or after existing to bring it back to 2 pipes? Or Y pipe after the Magnapack to go out 2? reason I ask is 4x14s are SI/SI, not SI/DO. Did you ever consider duals? It should sound pretty nice though
