another question?

Im wanting to replace the factory muffler on my 2011 5.0. I had banks exhaust on my 4.6 i traded in. I want something close to that but not has much drone or quit as loud.

do yall think this muffler will do the trick?
http://www.jegs.com/i/Dynomax/289/24...rentProductId=

its 23.25 inches long so i figured that would help.

I was thinkin bout doin the same thing to my dads truck, meaning buy him a muffler and tip for xmas, and from what everyone is saying magnapacks and borla pro xs are the way to go when it comes to mufflers. There are some dynomax fans on here though but i dont think they are running that muffler. Do some searchin on here and see what ya find!

I decided to go with Borla but I need to call them to see which muffler they recommend.

Has anyone measured the exhaust on the 2011 5.0? I know coming out is 3" but I haven't had the chance to measure the size going in because I thought I read something somewhere that it is 2.5" coming out of the resonator and into the muffler. Not sure if that would make sense though.

Either way, I am either getting a 3" SISO, or a 3" in and 2.5" dual out. I just don't know which would be the best route for performance or if it would even make a huge difference. I plan to get a CAI and Tune in the near future and I don't know if the SIDO would be better for the extra air flow from the CAI or not?

Any thoughts? I figured I would see how it sounds and if it isn't loud enough with the new Borla I would take out the resonator. I don't want it to be extremely loud but I do want a nice rumble when I get on it.

On my 5.0, I replaced the muffler with a 14" oval body Magnaflow, threw on a 3.5"x10" tip and it sounds great. My dad had a Banks on his 05 5.4, so I know the drone you are referring to. Mine drones nothing like that. There is a slight amount of drone around 1800 RPM, but nothing bad.

Nope, it went up to 3" for 2011 5.0, but like I said...I need to measure to see if it is 3" all the way through.

It's just the factory piping. I just told them what I wanted. Never measured it. Sorry!

I spoke with Borla and they recommended the following muffler for my 2011 5.0L SCab.

P/N-400436, 3" S/I, 3" S/O, 24" x 6.75" Dia. Round, Center/Center (truck applications).

The cheapest price I've found is at Summit Racing.

I also found this Magnaflow:

I found this Flowmaster type muffler at Summit Racing. It is 2.75" S/I, 3" S/O. Not sure how it would sound. It has high-temp gray coating/paint.

That is correct, stainless steel is the way to go.
