Exhaust Decision??!!

I can not decide what type of exhaust to put onto my truck. Please help.

Things I do know:
-I want it loud, but without the popping of straight pipes
-I don't want tips, instead i'd like it to be dumped behind the rear axle or before. Or possibly have the tips installed but under the truck out of sight.

Things I don't know:
-which type to get
-to leave the cats on or off?
-true duals, y pipe, x pipe? differences

I have thought about getting either a flow master or magnaflow muffler with no cats and true duals? Just really not sure. Any advice or videos would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

read the exhaust guide and watch the videos in the 2011 exhaust contest that should give you some ideas.

How loud are we talking here, like true dual Magnapacks with LT headers loud?

Sounds like you need to spend some time on YouTube and the exhaust sticky.

x3 read the sticky. I would say however, definitely keep cats, and no true duals.

Just no true duals at all, leave it a Y piped single midpipe to a SI/DO or so. There really isn't much of a reason other than sound, or a full blown and high performances truck, to have true duals. I'm thinking its between that, and my 33s that hurt my old trucks trans. When it was pushed hard that is.

Exhaust will not damage a transmission. It will raise your torque curve some yes, but that will not hurt a transmission in any way. If anything, it is easier on it at low RPM because the engine will be applying less torque to the transmission.
