thrush glass pack need a part number...
hi folks been a member for a while just don`t post much i want to replace my stock muffler with a simple thrush glass pack , however the only one close in length is a 2 1/4 inlet and outlet part 24211 30 inch 35" overall length. does anyone knows the number of the 2 1/2 version of this ? or what can i use to make the 2 1/4 version fit? i know there are many other choices out there however at 50 yrs of age i know what i want...thanks for any and all your help folks. Trav.
Ummmm
.... Thrush is Dynomax now .... or Dynomax is Thrush .... if you prefer ...

You can now get them in red painted finish or shiney stainless steel.
I used the 24214 to substitute for the 2.5" pipe ahead of my 07's FlowMaster (I bought my truck in 2009, it already had a FM cat back with SS dual rear tips that fit and looks perfect, good hangers, etc .... all welded, just had too much drone so I added the GP ahead of it to kill some drone, it worked too.), it has a 2.5" inlet and outlet and core.
The 24211 is some longer but only 2.25 inlet and outlet, even though core is 2.5" and while the ends are expandable, that doesn't expand the point where that 2.25" pipe is welded to the body, that'll stay necked down.
I think I may have to get one of those 24240 and a piece of SS pipe next time when this one rots.
Doing what you want, I'ld use the 24214 and a short piece of pipe .... or use two in line, one ahead of the other as they are straight thru. One in place of stock, one in place of the pipe section leading back from the Y.
If I were doing mine from stock, I'ld split the pipe and run two seperate mufflers to two tail pipes.

Cherry Bomb's 87516 is nearly the same muffler.

thanks for the input i know what the bullet sounds like i just prefer the old school tone of the glass pack even to the point i took Flowmasters off my big block cuda and put glasspacks back on ... actually gained hp on chassis dyno ?? any how here is what i came up with ;i am just replacing the muffler on the stock siso system tried to order the 24211 for the length but no go, advance and auto zone said that it cant be ordered any more so i went with 24205 with the adapters it should put me at 35 inches that is 1 inch longer than the stock muffler .so hopefully it should go on with out issue i will weld the adapters to the muffler and just clamp to the exhaust pipe ...i will update when i get it finished. and thanks again for all the info..TRAV..

ok muffler went on with out issue and is just what i wanted ,not loud at all nice low growl from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd then it quiets down and is slightly louder than stock. no popping or as we used to call it( backing off) noise i think that is because of the length of the muffler. over all i am quite happy with it ..i left it a siso system to keep a bit more bottom end for towing a stock trailer ...we will see if it gets louder when under load ...thanks again TRAV.
