OBX LT Headers Installed!

I got my OBX LT headers installed over this past weekend. It is a pain in the *** if you have larger hands, be forewarned! Many of the nuts/studs are in a place where you have to contort your arms in a very uncomfortable, skin pealing position and get 1/8-1/16 turns at a time. PB blaster is your friend! I did have to pull the starter so I could get the bottom studs/nuts back on once the header went up. I *could have* done it with extensions and u-joints....but I wanted to make sure everything got torqued down correctly.

It took me about 12 hours to pull the existing e.mans and y-pipe, install the headers and modify the OBX y-pipe and cat-back. I purchased the resonated kit and replaced the resonators with Magnaflow 9" bodied cats.

I found the front o2's needed to be extended 2' and the rear o2's needed 1'. This enabled me to route the wiring behind the factory heat shields against the floor boards and not have to worry about the wiring melting at all. I just got the same sized wire, soldered the connections and shrink wrapped them all.
I did buy BBK extensions, but they would've only worked for the rear o2's because of how short they were. I'll be returning them for my $50 ASAP!

I decided to weld the entire y-pipe and not use the supplied clamps on anything. I used factory studs/nuts and the supplied OBX gaskets. I am leak free This also go rid of an existing exhaust leak, so I'm very happy with this mod!

The fit and finish on this set of headers is absolutely fantastic! I went through hell a few years ago with a set of 2wd headers that were shipped to me from racingpartsdepot as 4wd headers, and was spooked on going through that again. Luckily I went through ?sparktech?, got the correct headers and am VERY happy with this mod.

I have some clips of my exhaust before adding these and I will be getting some new ones this week. A video will be coming soon.

My exhaust really didn't get much louder, which shocked my friends and I. It does have a bit more deep DEEP sound to it with more of a growl, so it did change. No rasp, not too loud (for now).
I did switch back to my SIDO Magnaflow, which honestly sounds almost identical to my true dual x-piped Magnaflow.

Good to hear another positive report. Videos and photos are mandatory around here though.

Glad you had good experiences with the kit. It's a good kit except for the collector bolts and clamps, they are junk. I got some grade 8 bolts for the collectors. I need to get my piping welded up because the clamps leak.

can you feel a difference in before and after tq/hp? What were your mods when you installed the headers? I want to do headers for some low end for pulling my trailer, and well the sound of course too I have exhuast, cai, and a gryphon.

Thanks for the replies, I am loving these headers! I am looking forward to modifying the y-pipe with the x-pipe system, but just don't have the time to right now.
I'm honestly not in a huge rush, I really like the way the truck sounds right now.

Yes, a bit. The seat of the pants dyno can tell a decent change throughout the entire power band, especially down low. My mods were Gotts Intake mod, K&N drop in (I used to have a Volant, but ended up hating the moosing noise) , Edge CS (getting Gryphon tunes ASAP) and 12"magnaflow cats w/ x-piped true duals w/ 12" magnaflow mufflers.
I towed my 22' cuddy cabin this past weekend, and I noticed a decent change in power. I had a lot more lower end grunt and didn't notice the boat behind me nearly as much as I used to.

Here's a compilation of vids from my cell and digicam of before and after incab and exterior shots. Excuse my rattley steering column, a bushing has slid down and I've just slacked on fixing it. Not the best video, but good enough.
