trying to get exhaust done, not looking so good

hey guys i went to a couple exhaust shops today and the one said they only use their parts, so they're outta the picture. my plan is to just leave the exhaust stock up to the muffler, cut the muffler off, put a 2.5" dynomax bullet in place, then a y-pipe to 2 tails comin straight out the back with 2 18" long tips 2.5" in 4" out. now the guy at the other shop said he'd do it, but he said with the 97-03's (i have an 01 myself) there's some sort of "box" that's on top of the gas tank? and he said if it's there he would not be able to run another pipe. i never heard of that before. so if any of you guys know what kind of "box" he's referring to please let me know! i really hope i can get this exhaust done

The only 'box', on top of the gas tank is the one that hauls cargo of up to 5'5, 6'5, and 8' in length.... If this was true then the cat-back companies would not produce twin tailpipe kits for them. Some exhaust shop workers I swear... Lazy. All it is is a pitch to charge high for only a little less pipe bending.

thats so stupid. ypipe wont be loud but itll be hella deep and no popping. that was my first exhaust setup- stock manifolds stockcats deleted the rear ones and y piped it with no mufflers. coukd only hear it in the cab when i was really on it which i loved. now i got headers hiflows trudualed with no mufflers lol now the only time i dont hear my pipes is when the key is out of the ignition! so im putting xpipe and mufflers back on... youll love the tone. i had deepest tone in town

yeah me either i just looked at the guy all confused and thinkin i know you're feedin me bull ! haha and i just ordered my parts last night off summit racing cause it ended up not bein the manifold! haha it was only a 25$ repair cause where the manifold meets the actual piping, the bolts were rotted outta that flange. so now exhaust is coming soon and i can't wait!
