Magnaflow + Bullets

Hey guys, I've got a question...

Currently I'm running Highflow cats to an X pipe to Dynomax Bullets, all 2.5" pipe out to 4x18" tips. I've completely changed my exhaust 3 or 4 times, but I still think this setup is a little loud.

Here's the deal. I have a used Magnaflow DI/DO muffler (I think 11"?) and it does not have the internal x pipe. If i put this DI/DO muffler in front of the dual bullets, will it quiet the note down? Hopefully considerably.

Thank you,
Will

Why not run the DI/DO only? It will kill the sound a good margin. I ran true dual 11"s and Bullets on the same truck. The 11" itself sounded good just a quieter idle and not much drone to what I prefer.

That's exactly the setup I was running before this one.
In fact, the day I swapped the DI/DO Magnaflow for the 2 Bullets, I was so surprised in the similarities of the loudness...actually the brand new bullets were noticeably quieter than the fairly new Magnaflow (which had maybe been on for 5,000 miles).

I'm just worried about drone. Will the slightly forward placed Magnaflow muffler increase any sort of drone? I do think the combination of mufflers will have a cool, unique sound.

With that combination it very well could, but nothing extremely loud humming. Well if you give it a try please give us your feedback.

I'm very well considering it soon. May try to post a video with my phone...no camera.

Thanks Darren

That will most definitely quiet it down.

That's what I'm hoping for. Honestly the only thing bothering me is the potential for drone. Regardless, it shouldn't be any worse than what I'm hearing from dual Bullets...right?

Right? Drone shouldn't be any worse than it is now...Any input would be appreciated though.
Planning on the muffler addition either Monday or Tuesday.

Two mufflers will be quieter than one, period. Loudness and drone kind of run together.

How would drone be worse with two mufflers?

I don't know, I've never had a muffler so far forward. That's the deal...the Magnaflow would be placed just underneath the end of my extended cab. I do still believe it will drone less, thanks for the replies.

Correct. The 11s alone were silent at highway, damn loud under throttle. The Bullets hummed ALL the time. Actually got old.

Drone is worse with true duals. You have dual exhausts mounted up under neath so there is double the vibration cabin floor and sound waves are doubled from the exhaust piping itself, through the mufflers to pitch the tone. And its a hint louder out the tailpipes over your basic SI/DO because the exhausts will both have more potential with static pressure to cause a stronger clamor of audio where as the jointed muffler that Ys the tailpipes together will hold more silence as it is jointed by the single exhaust midpipe that is Y piped from the banks. Considering that both exhausts using the same mufflers and tips at the same exits it makes a well judgmental point.
