OBX LT/True Duals

Hey guys,

My oem exhaust manifold leak is getting worse by the day and I can not stand it anymore! I am looking to buy OBX long tube headers, X-pipe, Hi-Flow Mag 94306 cats, and true duals. Here are my questions.....

1. Should I buy the OBX LT Kit Part Number: H11455S if I am not using the resonators and y pipe? Or should I just buy the headers w/ gasket kit only? http://www.racingpartdepot.com/servl...06-Ford/Detail

2. I tow a boat quite a bit and would love more torque, should I run 2.25 or 2.5 inch piping back with this set-up?

Truck is a 2006 FX4 with a 5.4

Thanks in advance!

JK

2.25" piping for that low end tq for towing. What mufflers are you thinking about?

Thanks Mig.....The mufflers are still up in the air at the moment. I was initially thinking of going with Magnapacks, but after reading some other posts, it seems this setup may be toooo loud? I currently have the same setup as you with a 3" bullet si/so with 3" pipe from the Y back exiting behind pass side wheel. I really like the sound I have now, a lil louder would'nt bother me, but don't want anything much louder as I will be towing long distances for fishing trips. Any suggestions?

Oval body Magnaflow or Borla mufflers. The 14" Mag or 18" Pro XS.

Be careful of the box kit you get. A member had got just the headers and gasket kit for his 4x4 and they wouldn't fit. Turns out he needed the kit with the y pipe and resonators. Reason being obx copied two different sets of other company headers...and one is for 2wd only it seems. The headers were listed as fitting both but it didn't. Search for that thread and make sure you get the right kit...you might have to get the full kit if you have a 4x4.

Thanks Avfrog, the 14" was all I could find...makes sense now. I have another question. With me running 2.25" piping and the OBX kit being 2.5", does the Magnaflow X pipe, High Flow Cats, and Pro XS mufflers have to all be 2.25" or only the mufflers?

The cats can be 2.5", but youll want the X pipe and mufflers to be 2.25". X pipe should be the same pipe size as the mufflers.

Thanks Mig! Just to be certain, the cats will go in first, followed by the X Pipe furthest up as possible, with the mufflers last furthest back in front of the axle? I'm an exhaust n00b as well!

Yeah youve got it. The X pipe should go where the 2 pipes from the cats connect (Y pipe).

Only get 2.25" pipes if they're mandrel bent. Even then, 2.5" pipes would seem like a better idea IMO.

I would just run the whole system (headers back) 2.5".

Thanks for the insight guys....Please elaborate why the 2.5 would be a better idea? I was planning on getting 2.25 mandrel bent... I am trying to get the most gains as possible, especially for towing.
