That I can FINALLY say is a damn nice Flowmaster. For the deaf people out there that won't mind the drone, Flowmaster Inc did a really good job on this muffler. I am slacking on YouTube apparently I had not seen that video before. I personally will not choose that muffler, but If I wanted wrappy crackling loud I would choose that muffler + hi-flow cats.

I am really leaning towards the Borla XR-1 setup I have in mind.

^ canadianelbow said in an earlier post that it was a Magnaflow SI/DO catback. Part #16463.

Sure seems like it.

After watching Canadian's quick vid I am considering that kit. I didn't think an 18" would sound like that. I expected something much quieter..or "tame". Makes me wonder what a 14" 12198 or Magnapack would sound like.

Canadian, any chance of an interior vid?

My biggest concern with my exhaust choice is getting a custom exhaust worked up and going "WTF have I done?!?" when I could have just bought a great sounding kit that meets my desires sound wise. Youtube can be really varied with regards to quality so it's tough to use it as a means of making a decision. Your vids are great, btw!

My exhaust work involves about 240 miles of driving so if I make a bad decision I would have to do that trip again to fix it (the only place within 200+ miles that does SS and Mandrel bending).

I'll try and remember to take an interior vid in the morning on my way to work. I wouldn't want any more noise on the inside of the cab personally.

Working on a quality way to get some sound clips, phone sounds like chit, same for ipod mic. I'd say XR-1 has the deep tone of a magnapack with the added growl of a corsa sport.

That Magnaflow sounds really good. Nice deep tone.

In an earlier post the Flowmaster was mentioned to have a lot of drone. Does the Borla XR-1, Corsa, or this 18" Magnaflow have any drone at cruise RPM?

With all of the research I have been doing, the Corsa is the ONLY system I have ever seen where there have been absolutley ZERO reports of drone. I called Corsa and spoke with a few of their representatives and they were huge on the "no drone" aspect. One of the reps told me, "we put the noise outside and behind the truck, where it belongs". He described the sounds as a mean growl that will not annoy everybody in the truck. Very professional on the phone.

With regards to the Magnaflow offerings, it seems very subjective. Some people say they get no drone while others say they get tons of drone. I have watched videos where folks have said in the comments section "no drone", then during the video I could pick out the drone every time it occured. Other times I couldn't detect it. Wierd.

Thanks. I really like the sound of the Borla and Magnapacks, but based on your comments, I will focus on a Corsa muffler or system.

I may try a sigle Magnapack muffler swap just to see what I think of it before going for a complete new SI/SO or SI/DO setup. If I like it, I will just add a tip. If it ends up being crazy annoying, I already got the "thumbs up" from the wife to order the Corsa kit.

I spoke with a local shop today and they said they could do the muffler swap for me for about $110 w/the muffler out the door. Not a bad price to see if I like/can tolerate the Magnapack. lol

Looking forward to hearing your opinion on the muffler swap. I would be interested in doing the same.

I'm bumping this thread because the exhaust now has about 20K on it and I'd like to get some video/sound clips. Whats the best way to record the audio? I have an iphone but thats about it, maybe a good camcorder? I need to buy one anyway.

Same question here. My phone takes "ok" videos but I lose a lot of tone.
