99 Muffler Swap

Hey guys. I'm looking to get a new muffler for my truck. I was thinking a Dyno Bullet and just leave the stock tailpipe but will this have a nice, loud sound? Or will it be too quiet?

It will not be real loud but it will be more audible. Your OEM cat design and tailpipe without aftermarket tip have a hard silencing affect.

if your going do just a bullet swap, put a 3.5" tip at the end to help the sound. It makes a big difference. Youll be good to go after that.

You could get louder, but not that great of sound.. The bullet is loud but still has a nice tone.

would running a y-pipe after the bullet for duals lessen the sound?

I put hi-flow magna cats on mine and dude im telling you it is too damn loud. Take out your 2 precats and replace your other two cats with high flows. But make sure you put a muffler on because it will be too loud straight piped. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

Is just taking off the precats possible?

^ If you go that rout, you will want to leave the pre-cats and remove the rears. The pre-cats will be comparable in noise increase as a 94106 swap.

will they do their job as well as a 94106? To me it would be cheaper to just remove than to remove and replace.

thanks

^ Pre-cats still reduce emissions by them selfs, but not as good as all 4. All "performance" cats will also reduce emissions, but again, not as good as all 4.

That being said, your emissions will not be up to spec for that model of truck, but I can't tell you for sure which option will be closer. If I had to guess, I would say that the 94106 cats will be a little cleaner. Again, not for sure on this.

yea that's what i figured....is there anyway besides the correct muffler that will give a deeper sound? I'd take deep over super loud.

I'm a Ford guy, but I really like the sound of the big 6.0s in the Chevy's with duals or just straight pipes. That's what I'm looking for.

Thanks again.
