Question 02 Sensor on Y-pipe

I am in the process of getting a Gibson Swept-Side Exhaust for my truck. I began reading the post about the y-pipe and am also interested in getting one. My question is, my passenger side o2 sensor is connected to the factory y-pipe. Can the muffler shop re-mount this on the new y-pipe. Also, when the new y-pipe is installed, is it moved further (to the rear) back from the original location. Will there be a problem with the new y-pipe and the Gibson exhaust. I though I had seen these answers in the other post, but I have now made myself dizzy looking for them. Any help would be appreciated.

Most of em I've seen have the "Y" pipe going into the muffler. Check Jackal's thread for a place that has a much better price than Jeg's or Summit. Have your local muffler shop move the sensor bung closer to the cat.

Hey Skinny, I posted the same thing in another thread, I was looking for pictures. My O2 sensor is in the Y pipe as well. I want to put an X pipe in and I will likely be relocating the sensor just ahead of the X. They do have weld-on bungs for that. I believe that's what my exhaust guy said he was going to do. I'll find out next weekend. They must have changed them for the 2001's as the others that are posting no problems have 2000 or older.

Unhappy Mine Too

My o2 is in the Y as well, and mine is a 97. Bummer, but I understand it's an easy thing to relocate. Just need a good Muffler shop to work with. I like the "Independent" one's. They do good work and have great customer service. They have too, because most of there business comes from word of mouth, not fancy TV or radio ads......

I'm hoping to get mine in today or tomorrow. I just have to catch the guy at the right time, he just takes everyone on a first come, first serve basis. I like him because he does good work, so I'll wait my turn.
