Which One?

I've been trying to decide on an after market muffler for a little while now. I've listened to every YouTube exhaust video there is... I was pretty set on the Magnaflow 12577 (it's 5x11x22). Now, I'm not so sure.

There are only a couple of real criterias' it must meet. The first is No-Very Little droning inside the truck. The second is that it is only a little louder than stock. I've had quite a few mustangs, and, would only consider Bassani for them. But, they are loud! Not really what I am looking for here...

All I'm looking for is a drop in muffler, not a CB, or a SI/DO. I live pretty close to the stock life these days. And, yes, it will be professionally burned in. Nothing ghetto...

Also, its a 2006 XL 4x4 w/4.6...

What do you guys think?

Just have it mounted as close to the axle as possible. I had a 3" SI/SO 5x11x22" Maggie on my '07.5 - 4.6L STX and it sounded nice. Not overly loud but a slight drone at 70 mph. If it's too loud you can always install a 12 - 18" Dynomax Bullet (Resonator) in front of the Maggie to calm it down. A Bullet worked out great on the '05 Nissan Titan I had.

I worked on aircraft for 21 years and as I get a lil' older I become less tolerant with exhaust drone.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the input, Blue. I've just never had a Ford truck before, and, I'm kind of at a loss of which way to go. Honestly though, it's probably going to be that Maggie, unless someone pipes up with some good suggestions...

That muffler is awfully big. I would suggest either a 14" or a 18", just so that you will actually hear it.

The most impressive muffler I've ever heard if you like it quiet, but different.

Really quiet when you want it to be/ no drone, but loud if you get on it and want to hear it. Hopefully you'll reconsider not having a dual exhaust, after all, it is single in and dual out.. so its half single right?

I guess its just my personal preference, not going duals. I lust like the single side, one pipe look on my trucks. Fords and Chevys alike. As for the fore mentioned maggie being to big, what is everyone else running? I know punisher recommended a 14" or 18". Is that size the general consensus? Thanks again, guys. I appreciate it...

I'd consider running duals with those mufflers...

no drone and a little louder than stock? 22" magnaflow oval body welded as far back as possible (towards the rear diff) and out the back at a 45 degree angle with a 3.5" or 4" tip. Youll be happy with that.

This is definitely more along the lines of what I was thinking. I'm just not going to run duals... Thanks for all the advice.

you have a v8. you should want to hear it at least some of the time if not all of the time, same goes for everyone you pass making them give you a double take. Of you don't want to hear it then don't get a v8....magnaflow should do good for you though if you buy muffler like punisher suggested.

I have a v8? Thanks for the heads up! I reckon smooth, quiet, and aggressive is out of the question? You know what? You're right! Fugg it! Glasspacks with no cats, mounted on true duals! Will that do? Now we're talking... Man, honestly, I really do appreciate you're fact filled post. I'd be lost without you.
