best exhaust for me?

hey guys, once summer comes, i wanna get rid of my stock muffler and put a new SIDO aftermarket on (i own a 2001 f150 5.4l). i was just looking for input on what mufflers are louder/quieter and which have better sound quality. i personally am liking the tone and loudness of the cherrybomb extreme, but i want to keep my options open so i know exactly what i want come summer. all input is welcome. thanks!

It needn't be - just stay away from any POS chambered muffler of any description on a Modular.

Honestly - would you trust anything from a company named Fartmaster, where the Chief Engineer is called Bubba, and his sidekick geek go-fer is Buford?

Also - read this yet? ==> https://www.f150online.com/forums/ex...ust-guide.html

you like the loudness and tone of a cherry bomb extreme? Then go with that. Or you can stay with the same volume and go with a magnaflow 14" round body aka magnapack or dynomax bullet. Super 44 would be on the bottom of the list of those.

by same volume are you referring to the same volume as the cherry bomb?

Ok, this is from personal experience, and I have a 2002 f150 supercrew with a 5.4L and stock cats (essentially the same thing you have).

I started out with a flowmaster 50 series SI/DO. It was super quiet and could hardly hear it at all. I didn't like it.

I then went to a Flowmaster Super 44 SI/DO. It was louder and deeper, sounded pretty good overall, not terribly loud though still due to the 4 stock cats.

I then went to a Cherry Bomb extreme SI/DO one chamber. It was only slightly louder and it was not as deep sounding as the Flowmaster 44. I actually didn't like it as much as the flow 44.

Lastly, I started researching this forum and read about true duals and dynomax bullets, which is what I have now, ending in long 4" rolled edge tips. This setup sounds louder and deeper than any of the above previous setups, and it as loud as it can mostly likely get when retaining the 4 stock cats. The straight through mufflers sounds better to me on these modular motors than the chambered ones I started out with. If only I knew that to begin with. lol.

Hope this helps you figure it out. Youtube is your friend. Its all about personal preferences. Good luck.

that does help a lot thanks! and if you don't mind, how much did the dual dynomax setup cost? because i'm really not trying to sink too much money into this truck, but the stock muffler on it now has a hole in it so it's gonna have to be replaced anyways. so, instead of just puttin another giant quiet muffler on it (lol) i just wanna dual it up. i just want the best bang for the buck ya know?

You want the best bang for your buck? Buy a 2.5" dynomax bullet, 2.5" Y pipe, and dual 2.5" piping out of the muffler out the back however exit you want. Listen to my videos underneath the picture in my sig. I have a 3" single dynomax bullet. Same 4 cat system and motor you have.
