Factory Exhaust Question

I've got the factory muffler on my truck... however it is rattling now... it sounds as if one of the baffles is loose or rusted apart inside of the muffler, as evidence of how much rust there is.

Would it be wise to just get an aftermarket catback system, or should I just get it replaced under warranty? I forsee the warranty idea might be a good idea, but I'm not sure if it is covered, and how would they know if someone just didn't put stones in my muffler without cutting it apart after replacing it?

Or should I just eat it up, and buy a new catback system for $300 - $400?

Or should I just cut off the factory muffler, and weld on a Flowmaster 50 SI/SO to it and be done with it?

(And No, I'm not doing stacks on it. )

it all depends what you want. do you want a different sound or look. if you dont want a diff look and your pipe is still in good shape. just find a muffler you like and get it put in it's a simple job.

How are you going to get it covered under warranty?

Under emissions equipment?

5 year / unlimited miles corrosion is only for the body and I'm not sure if they consider a muffler "emissions equipment". I would think that would be for cats only on the exhaust system.

Replace it with a muffler of your choice. Ask your self how loud you want it before you order one. A shop can do the replacement pretty cheap and maintain the stock look.

I've got an extended premium care warranty.
