Tips or no Tips?

Hey guys I'm new here and was thinking about installing a 40 series flowmaster exhaust with no tips. I was gonna run it straight back and and turn in down behind the rear bumper because I don't want to see it and it looks cleaner to me. Question is will it sound any different without tips? Also let me know what you think about my truck pics. Thanks guys

I think it will be quieter....The tips kind of aim the sound sort of like a megaphone if you will. Good choice on the muffler though....I have a SI-DO 40 with maggy high flow cats and its the best sounding exhaust Ive ever heard.

Oh and ur truck is awesome...Love the wheels!

Why would you want to ruin such a nice looking truck with such a terrible muffler?

4.6 Punisher......I think the flowmaster sounds good. I'm still shopping around but I haven't heard many different exhausts in person and I don't trust sound clips or videos. Either way I thinking of hiding the tips.

The 44 should sound good, it's you're preference in sound not someone else's, granted we can guide you to what we think sounds good.

If you go flowmaster though only get the 40, 44, or 10 series because the others are even more restrictive. You're just runnin a SI/SO muffler right? If you go SI/DO you could have both pipes dump with the tips just barely showing. It looks cool and there's a thread here somewhere in the first couple pages of a truck with someone that did that.

It will be at least 30% quieter at idle and probably the same while driving or at rev with no tips.

First, I would suggest a different muffler. But... If your stuck on that Flow 40, then the absolute best sound from it would be no tips, and no pipe after the muffler. Just leave that bastard open and let her rumble!

Well I doubt you're going to run into a guy with an exquisite true dual exhaust with Borla's/Magnapack's/Bullet's in person for a while.

You can buy a Bullet for $40 from Summit. They sound better and they're cheaper.

If anyone has their exhaust tips barely showing or no tips at all can you post a picture please. I know I can dump it right at the muffler but I didn't want it right below me when driving. You guys are a big help.

I like flowmaster sound. Who cares what people say about them not flowing. No way in hell could it flow worse then the stock trashcan muffler the truck comes with. Exhaust wont be a HP/tq gain on the butt dyno anyway so why not get what you like.
