Header problem

got headers put on about 3 weeks ago. got a cel reading p1151. brought to a shop down at school and the muffler man started bitching about how headers were the worst idea bc of the problems. first he said that the cel reading came from there being no back pressure bc there is no cats. when i believe its from a leak before the front o2 sensor. then he also says that the resonators hooking up to the headers will always leak..this tru?

Your "muffler man" is a dumb bastard. The code is for Heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1 indicates lean. I would double check to ensure the wires are not broken (assuming you extended the wires yourself?) and that all the oxygen sensors are tight. When an O2 sensor fails, it almost always fails lean. More then likely you just have a bad oxygen sensor. I would also check to ensure there are no leaks between the header and resonators. Like I said though, probably bad sensor.

ya i know what the code reads but i didn't feel like sitting there and arguing with him. and i thought that the code read that the front o2 sensor on the drivers side had a bad heater coil. and that is actually the side where the resonator is leaking where is joins together with the header. i just wanna check for all leaks before i go out and buy an o2 sensor.

Well it will show lean due to outside air entering the exhaust

well i reset my computer and 5 miles down the road the CEL came back on. i didn't listen to see if the resonator was leaking again. but could a big leak about 5 feet down stream there is a good size leak. could that also be the problem or should i look at the wires of the o2 because they were extended
