Problem!
ok so i recently just put a new muffler on my truck. its a '94 f150 v8 5.8l. about two days after i finished putting the muffler in myself my rpms would shoot up 2500 then drop down to 1000 then shoot right back up to 2500. it would go up and down a few times. i now the guage isnt broke becuase i can feel the truck lose power. this happened twice. could the new muffler have anything to do with it or is it from the cold (its snowing here). any comments or ideas?

what muffler did you use? I don't know if this would cause this but if it's directional (ex. flowmaster) then you want to make sure you installed it the right way. Are you driving when this happened or did it do this just sitting in park?

Yea figured it wouldn't just tryin to name out the simplest of problems
A muffler will not affect traction or performance..
Sounds like you A, are spinning out and do not realize it, or B, your transmission or Torque Converter are about to fail you.
