cam phasers....i thought it was something else but i have had numerous people help track the source. that will be the summer project.

4X18 tips on the way....im hoping it will deepen it up a little over the 3 inch tips currently on the truck now. i have the pipes to 45 the tips behind the wheels so i will do this at the same time...

updates when available...

Don't bother, the new ones will wear in and make the same sound. Just something to deal with with the 5.4L 3v. I never changed mine, my 5.4L is as healthy as can be.

I think they updated them in 08 when they updated the heads so maybe it wont make that noise after some miles.

isn't it the pins in them that shear and cause the noise (not the pin but the cam phaser themselves cause the noise)? i think they did update the pins but i could be wrong.

I think it is the pin but im not sure. I havent had the problem but I also have a 06 mustang and seem to remember reading about it on a mustang site.
