keep airiad intake setup and replace filter or change CAI - AF1 from troyer?

I just picked up another 2000 f150 5.4L that I will be building up into a desert truck, anyway it came with an airaid intake but there is no air filter for it. Should I just get a replacement filter from airaid or sell this one off and get a troyer AF1 (bigger diameter one). Let me know what you guys think!

I have the 3" AF1 from Troyer on my 2007 FX4 and it performs very well with his tunes. If you are looking at the 3.5" AF1, you will have to use a tune to prevent it from running too lean.

I have not tried the Airaid, so I cannot comment on it.

I did not think the AF1 was still available, thought they went out of business.

oh that may answer my question pretty easily, I'll have to call troyer to double check, and yes I was talking about the bigger 3.5 af1 and I will be running their tunes anyway with the xcal2 I already have so thats not an issue.

AF1 went out of business almost 2 yrs ago. Troyer may still have some stock left over but thats about it.

I have a 2010 F150 with a 5.4L. I am looking into buying a cold air intake for it and I am leaning towards the Volant. Does anyone have any reccomendations? I was also told that the 2010 F150's are having a lot of check engine lights come on after a cold air intake is installed. Anyone have any experience with this problem?

no idea on the 2010's after doing my first truck (silver one) I would just go with whatever troyer reccomends so you have a well matched complete setup that will not throw codes.

I may be interested in the 3.5 af1 if it will fit my truck but I think troyer said there is only one size that fits the 97-03 trucks.

So now my new question, I have a black plastic K&N fipk intake on the silver truck and a metal airaid intake came with the new truck, the airaid looks more like the AF1 so Im wondering if it is better than the K&N or if they are basically the same. Also need to replace the filter on the airaid and had to buy the piece that goes from the MAF to mount the filter from K&N but I should be able to run any filter...which one would you guys run? AFE dry filter, just replace airaid, K&N...?
