Volant Mistake

Let me give you guys a brief history. I purchased my 07 F150 5.4 used in 08 and it had some aftermarket, no name honda civic looking cold air intake on it. After about 6 months that thing fell apart (actually broke into three pieces under the hood). I went to my local dealership and they wanted $900 to put my truck back to stock parts. I made the mistake of buying the Volant from a local off road place and installing it myself. After reading all the reviews on here about the volant and all the problems everyone is having that are simmilar or the same as me, i'm ready to just go back to stock. I would love to do exhaust, a tuner and the whole nine, but financially it just aint gonna happen for a while.

My question is, other than a junkyard, where is the best place to find Ford factory parts on a budget?

I've never had a problem with Volant , or heard of any. I've had one for about 3 years, it's been great. Sounds like your hard on intakes lol.

I had to replace the factory induction on my 2000 XLT and went to a junkyard to get the parts. It really is your best option, just make sure you have the MAF or that yours is in good condition.

Ebay usually has several for the 5.4L, also check Craigslist and your local salvage yard.

Or post in this thread.....https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...over-cost.html.....to get a price quote for a new one.
Other than that settle for one out of a junkyard....cheaper....

I don't think he is......

His truck runs with a slot style MAF....

Not one like in your truck.

The switching of air intakes to the CAI or wai or washoobi can make the truck run lean especially the 04-05s 5.4 3v.

Preferably he should get a programmer along with customs tunes to compensate for it.....

My truck is running lean, like the 100's of others I read about on this forum. I don't think I was chumpin anyone, if anything I was saving them from unnecessary bashing by not repeating the negative comments already posted. I fiigure anyone who had questions could do a search like I did and see plenty of threads discussing the volant causing trucks to run lean. Mine is doing the same thing.

Right, but that's not a Volant problem. That's a 3 valve. That's if you refferring to a 3" vrs a 3.5" which isn't Volant specific, rather, size specific. Being that the 3.5 WILL run the 3V lean. Correct?

If you're looking to go back together with factory parts, and have no luck from the other recommendations in this thread (craigslist, eBay, junkyard, etc.), give these guys a shot:

https://www.silverstatefordparts.com...ord-parts.html

They're a Ford dealership in Las Vegas. I've done business with them several times and been satisfied. It's new factory OEM parts at a discounted price. Shipping is reasonable, too. Good luck!

Actually, you go here and just type in your "zip". They find you a USED set up, close to home -

I'll sell my stock unit from my 2008 for half of new, if they're $900. I took it off my truck at 8,000 miles when I installed a supercharger. Complete from fenderwell to throttle body. I'll even throw in the air filter.

I just looked up the parts for the air intake assembly for a 5.4 at Tasca and you can purchase all new components for ~$335 without the air filter. Personally, I think you'd be better off getting tunes to work with the intake you got.
