2011 Exhaust Layout

Some 2011s came to the dealership as I was browsing for a new truck. First thing I did after walking around it was took a glimpse underneath to study the exhaust setup on the new powertrain. There were only 3 new '11s and they were all 5.0Ls. The exhaust looks similar to last years, about the same muffler size, but there is a resonator in front of the muffler. This may be a Ford remedy for the cat-back drone complaints, and to tone down the new engines. Who knows how loud they will be just yet? The 6.2L sure has a nice note to it. I almost want to say the exhaust tubing was 3".. the tailpipe at least was. Looked a bit larger than 2.75". If anyone gets the chance to check one out with a mini ruler verify it with us. I couldn't get a chance to get accurate sizes because the sales man has hell bend on selling me this '11 FX4 Lux hahah.

Pics of the '11 FX4 lux, im not interested in buying it, but its what I looked at. I will take a Supercrew 6'5 red candy tinted or black one though!

5.0L

I wish I took exhaust pics.

Darren, How do you think the 5.0 would sound with true dual 2.5" pipes and a magnaflow?

I haven't yet heard a new TIVCT engine in person yet, barely heard any Mustangs on YouTube, I'm anxious to though. It could sound quite good.

I didn't think ford was going for a difference in the looks depart. I thought they were going for better performance and fuel economy?

Well before you state so, look under the hood of a 2011 5.0L and compare it to the hulky sized 4.6L & 5.4L Triton Modulars.. it is much smaller and more space inside the bay. Look at one for yourself.

The 6.2L may be another story, I have not seen the bay of a 6.2L in person yet. I should have when the dealer had that Raptor.

Precisely, to eliminate the crap performing Triton engines also.

Hey no problem, I'm well aware of the drone complains from cat-backs on '09 - '10s, was expecting some type of remedy for the '11+ powertrains which may be even louder than the Tritons. I only wish I took pics..

Oh well . Next time they get a couple other '11s in I'll have an excuse to go back over and check them out. I hate going back and checking out vehicles without a serious inquiry to buy, but oh well they should just leave me alone while I'm studying .
