Which has less issues -stock manifolds or aftermarket headers?
Which has less issues -stock manifolds or aftermarket headers?
My 01 with JBA shorties are leaking and I was told since they do not make any power and are low quality so I should put back stock manifolds. I would have to buy stockers if I did but then I've read complaints of the stock manifolds cracking or also having leaks.
It seems either way is going to be a big fail in the end. Maybe another aftermarket brand may be better?
If any body has some thoughts on what I should do I really appreciate it.
Thanks

i haven't had a chance to do a check yet. I just fixed some other leaks from the catback. I plan on tackling that this weekend.
that's what i read about manifolds too so it's problematic for stock and aftermarket then.

Replace the trans mount and you won't have a problem with the stock manifolds. Lightning manifolds are a little heavier as well. Well, not heavier, stronger design.
BTW, - Header bolts can require up to 4 stage tightening. From the center out and between drive cycles. They will hold torque value @ stage 4.

ok i attacked the headers today. it was the passenger side that I noticed a ticking sound and everyone's suspicions were correct. a few bolts were loose by at least a 1/2 turn. I don't know how some of them can even be torqued down but I just tightened them snug. No kung fu grip on them. I still hear a ticking sound though. I didn't see any apparent cracks nor didn't notice any air or sooty areas.
