is this guy full of it????

so I finally had time to go by the local exhaust shop to get the exhaust on my 86 f150 done.... once I told him what I wanted done(2.5 off the headers, 2.5 to single 3'' Y-pipe, 3" SI/SO super 44, he said that would make my truck run like crap and I would loose SO much power that it would be useless, by this time I was pretty agravated and told him that I would come back another day

was this guy jus being honest or jus too lazy to make some money, cuz I cant really think of another reason why he wouldnt do that

86 f150 5.0

Well flowmasters aren't exactly know for making the most hp, but you really won't notice that much of a difference either. He must be lazy. Any guy that wanted to make money, would have done that in a heart beat.

x2 ^ If he doesn't want to make money, don't give him the opportunity to. Even if you did get him to install the system, he would probably do a half a** job.

That's because your Y is 3". Why 3" , - is the engine built? You have to have some reason. A 3" Y is considered off road pipe because your WFO when racing. What will happen stock, you'll move the powerband up further into the rpms. You'll loose low end.

So, keep the Y 2.5 or 2.25 then bump it up at the merge. You'll have the flow/velocity that way.

Unless he didn't mean 3" Y ? I'm not sure. Post states -

(2.5 off the headers, 2.5 to single 3'' Y-pipe)

There's really no such thing lol.
