Ok I've got $100 and I want my truck to sound and look better. my original plan was to cut the stock muffler off, replace it with a dynomax bullet, and run dual tips out the side in front of the rear tire. Then I started looking at diesel tips and fell in love. So now I want to run either a 5" or 6" tip out the side in front of my rear tire. I love this idea but i need to know if I will have any problems with this setup.

Yea thats where im stuck. My friend has a 8" tip on his F150 but thats because he doesnt care that people give him crap for it everywhere he goes. I think a 5" would be great, but a 6" might make it look a little beefier. its hard to make a decision if I am unable to hold them both under my truck and look at them. also where can I get the bent pipe to run from the muffler out to the side? i have no clue where to find that.
I found these pictures of what looks to be either a 4 or 5" tip. Cant really tell. This is exactly what I want to do, just with a bigger tip

looks like a 4". that looks good like he has it. I personally wouldnt go any larger on a gas truck..but thats me. remember everyone is only posting opinions, and in the end its your truck. Also remember that the consensus is usually the best way to go with out looking like a fool...but birds of a feather....

This is exactly the setup I want minus the glasspack. Ignore the white smoke, its not oil, its "seafoam". He said the welded a 5" pipe to the case of the glasspack and the tip fit on the other end. I was thinking about doing the same with the bullet to avoid all the adapters to make the pipe big enough for the tip.

Sounds really quite. my exhuast sounded like that when i just cut the muffler out but not as raspy...
when i cut the Y-pipe off it sounded awesome.
i think anything over 4" tip needs to be able to roll some coal IMO
but its ur truck do what you want still kinda neat to see when people do it.

After thinking this over, frog, your right its stupid. A 4" tip will look much better than a 6". I do have 1 question though. I'm planning on re-using my stock pipe to make it exit before the rear tire. So, will a 3" inlet fit snuggly over my 2.75" stock pipe? I've been trying to figure it out but I cant. I'm going with a 4x18 tip by the way
ur goin to have +- 1/8 of inch if your reusing your stock 2.75 with a 3" ID tip...should be fine if your welding, my exhaust guy had more space from when he opened my tips up and it filled very nicely..shouldnt be too bad
