Thumbs up My new Borla system install...

I just installed my new Borla 140291 system yesterday, here's a few pics as I went along:

first off, it arrived in just 2 days from JEGS to Canada... nicely packed.

Off with the original:

Little comparison between stock and Borla:

The tips are definitely where the hanger mounts are, it was suggested this had changed... wrong!!

Now was the time to paint the cross-over pipe... flat black BBQ paint:

The one item that was a problem and has been discussed by others on here.. the join between the stock front pipe and Borla is not the best, so here's what I did... MacGyver'd the crap out of it with stuff I had on hand, sealing it with Permatex Ultra Copper Silicon

Pipes align "just right" in my books... slightly flared out, neatly tucked under the bumper, completely symmetrical in all ways.

It wasn't that tough a job, and easily handled by just myself... though my wife does get some credit for starting and stopping the engine when I was checking for exhaust leaks

And in the end.... it sounds good to....

Top of the line luxury aside of Harley Davidson, and 2011 Limited. Its the best you can get for '09 - '10. $48k price tag explains why. I want one, but in burgandy. Stupid Ford stopped that paint on Platinums for 2010... I want a '11 Supercrew 6'5 burgandy 6.2L Platinum!

Thanks Guys!
Couple hundred miles on and I think it sounds perfect... for me!
Slight rumble at 1900-2000rpm ... on the highway that's ~120km/hr or ~75mph
No big deal though!

It may be a little different so they can say it's for that truck only, but it is basically the exact same muffler.

Good choice, very nice. About the MacGyver mod. A heads up, good idea, I incorporated Permatex Ultra Copper at a few joints/transitions after band clamping my first system. It's great stuff, but eventually it will peel away, - it'll take awhile so keep an eye on it. Actually, it might not take that long for it to blow out of there, -hard to say, - I didn't have notched transitions.

An alternative to welding would be to cut behind the notch and re-expand the pipe. Harbor Freight sell exhaust pipe expander's fairly cheap, -cheapest I've seen anyway. If you end up going that route in the future, you'll have to have enough slack in the system to accommodate, (doubtful), but you might.)

You might end up taking it to a shop, having them splice in a short section to for a more permanent repair. I ended up welding the entire system myself, to end those concerns.

Congrats, beautiful system, -bet it sounds killer.
