tail pipe gone

i have an 04 f150, a few years ago i put on a flowmaster cat back system, i liked it, well probably 6 months ago the tail pipe rusted of right behind the muffler. i had a mechanic at work do some make shift repairs, it rusted off again, i'm wondering if i can just leave it as is with no tail pipe. my only concern is that it is pointing right at the rear axle, will that hurt anything, i just dont feel like messing with it if it wont hurt anything. any thoughts are appreciated.

I ran cut off flowmasters with no cats for while. No problems at all. It sounded great for a flowmaster...

I would be very concerned with fumes, especially when idling. I have mine 90 out of the muffler and exit in front of the rear tire. Very easy to do.
