calling all veteranos of the DWV intake mod...

I've read all the posts about this mod and just have a couple questions:

is there any downside to sawing off the silencers and plugging the holes?

how have the materials that you used for your mod held up over the months and years?

thanx for the input

Aslo, how many of you used the Spectra intake tubing with the downspout connecting to the stock tube?

Hi.

Possibly some drone will become evident - but it's subjective.

I'd simply leave them on - no benefit to removing them perf-wise. None at all. So save yerself the work unless you simply cannot bear the sight of them, or just keep the dang hood closed, lol.

The 2009+ also have these chambers - and here is what was discovered - it's embedded within this thread: https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...highlight=2009

Makes it easier to revert to original if necessary.

As for longevity - those materials, admittedly, were never designed for that environment (unlike the OEM materials) so it's possible some effects may occur over time. Good thing is - it's cheap to just get some new material if required, lol.

As for anything with the 'Sphincter' moniker, stay away ...

Gracias, MGD. The look of the silencers doesn't offend me enough to hassle with for no reason. If it doesn't help anything, then I'll let them live. I looked at the Spectra tubing today and didn't like the look of it anyway. I went the Lowe's route and am gonna put it in tomorrow. Thanks for the reply!
