which size muffler?

my boss has a 2010 dodge 2500 hemi. we were talking about mufflers, and he wants a magnaflow, but doesnt want it to loud, so i told him to get the longest one, (22" i think) but someone else told him 18" would be better because you wont be able to hear a longer one,

he is gonna take the resonator after the muffler off, he just wants a little more free exhaust flow and not really loud, i figured the longest one would be just fine, but he ordered the 18" and im thinking it might be to loud for him

I have 2 18" Magnaflows and it sounds perfect to me. One 18" on his truck should be fine, although Ive never heard a Dodge with one 18".
