New truck...exhaust ideas.

Ok so I just bought a brand new 2010 F150 3v 4.6l V8 and would like to know what is the best sounding exhaust for this truck. I like a rumble, but loud. Not loud popping like straight exhaust. I was thinking flowmaster but they have that pop sound like straights. any ideas???? Also what would be the best CAI or Short ram to get for this truck?

A lot of owners have great success with the "Gotts" intake mod and a straight through muffler like the 5x11x22" Magnaflow or a Dynomax Bullet or even a Borla muffler.

A programmer would get you the most power for the money. You willl need a custom tune if you plan on running a CAI. Do some research on the extensive exhaust and programmer threads and it may shed some light on your questions.

Good luck and congrats on the new rig. Does the 4.6L 3v have decent power?

Yeh it does have a lot of power man. and the gas mileage is amazing, you wouldnt think a v8 would get 26 mpg at 55 and 24.6 at 65 but it does. I am amazed by the fuel economy with this truck. Even city mpg is good at 18.3. But i dont think i want to deal with the whole Gotts mod, I read about that, just keeping it simple with exhaust and CAI is what I basically want, and window tint and I will be done. So any ideas of which CAI is best for it and which exhaust idea is great.

Say what?

The Gotts IS simple - and the least expensive ($10). And keeps yer IAT's in check. And offers the same (minimal ) gains of a WAI. And keeps yer air cleaner.

You are simply waistng yer money on an aftermarket Warm Air Intake, like a POS K&N.

Did you also miss this?

Blue gave you some great advice. May want to heed it.

It may be simple but i dont like the fact of cutting up the air box on a brand new truck.

??? There is nothing to cut. Leave the hemlholtz chambers intact. Remove the snorkel - insert a piece of pipe optional). Done. Completely reversible. You were looking at the wrong one...

I reiterate - IF you choose to replace the entire intake, you MUST get a custom tune to ensure yer A/F's are correct. Factor that into yer budget if yo go this route. With the Gotts - it's not required - but a tune will really wake up this engine, and especially the crappy factory tranny calibration.

X2 on the Gotts intake.

The only CAI that I would buy would be the S&B. It's pretty cheap, performs well, and looks pretty cool. The Gotts performs about the same and is only $15.

there was another forum i was on claiming the gotts mod was drilling 1 1/2" holes into the box and some other b.s. ive read the gotts mod here, and it isnt the same. but on that same note, i like that throaty sound of a CAI. And why would I totally need a tuner with exhaust and CAI, I had the exact same setup without a tuner on my v6 before i traded it for this truck and notice gains?

You don't, but you won't feel any gains without a custom tune.

Not for exhaust. But an intake swap modifies the region where yer slot-style MAF resides. Hence the MAF transfer function (I'm gettin' tired of typing that term, lol) can be, and usually is, altered. A custom tune corrects for that. Nothing else can. And a lack of a CEL will not matter.

Start searching the Chips forum for more info on this - there is plenty.

Here's one: https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...ake-elbow.html ( yeah.. I know -it's in the 2009+ section, lol)

Excellent sound but not loud?

Magnaflow cat-back with provided 18" body muffler.
