Quick exhaust project
Quick exhaust project
so i got sick of my slp duals this weekend and took the matters into my own hands. i picked up a siso 2.5" flowmaster(all you forum ***** can save it, i dont care what you think about flowmaster, theres a reason its one of the top 10 muscle car products of all time, and if you dont like it then be glad its on MY truck and not yours). then i used some pieces from the slp system and picked up a nice fatty tip(actually is a p.o.s. from autozone but i figured id start with this and fab it up and once i work the tweaks out i can get myself a quality one thats not gonna rot out on a couple months). i wanted a real cool custom exit and this is what i came up with. the crappy iphone pics dont do the 5in tip justice. so what do yall think? i def like the location and the large single diesel style tip. im thinking maybe a little bit bigger tho on the tip. as for sound it sounds alright but i think of the hangers are rattling under WOT so thats kinda tweakin it. either way tho its a start and much better then my crooked slp.
(just noticed i cant post pics, lemme work on this)

av, honestly its a muffler, if your worried about that making a staggering difference in performance, youve got alot of hp school to get through, performance muffler is contradictory term in my book. its just on there to tighten up the sound and keep the boys in blue happy.... as for sound i dont expect much bark from a less than 300hp, fuel injected, variable timing, ohc, roller motor with 4 cats. its just not gonna happen.
joh, its just a 40 series plane jane, and the drone isnt much if any. thats another thing i dont understand, if people dont want drone or cab noise then why do they switch up exhaust components? i for one love the hum, or "drone" of a v8 at highway speeds.
mostly for me, i really like the exit and the single tip, its much different and def something that catches the eye, yet not in a flashy way... i think alot of people see it and get pretty curious.
question for you exhast gurus, is there a chance that with a short run, this muffler, and a short fat(its only about 8in long total) tip, that the tip makes any sound difference. to me i feel like it did, but it may be because the muffler had a few days to breathe before i got around to putting the tip on.

sorry let me rephrase that, i fabbed up the system but didnt put the tip on for a few days due to parts, when i put the tip on it seemed to change the sound to make it deeper. could this be or is it just my ears playing tricks on me?

well ok then, ya learn something new everyday... never knew a tip would change the sound, always just thought of them as cosmetics.
heres a nother one while i have your ears.... shorty headers, are they easy to bolt up on these trucks or what? and how about the common exhaust manifold leaks on these trucks? are they an easy fix or is it something that im going to be tearing the engine bay apart and might as well do headers while im there?

p.s. be on the look out for some vidoes this weekend... gonna be tie-ing up some loose ends on the recent projects with the truck and this is one, might have a buddy weld the system and fab up some better hangers and mounts if hes available.
