My crystal ball was revoked along with the other members ones!

What year truck?
What motor size?
What dtc codes?

We'll help you solve your issue if you can post up that info..........

Do you by chance have an aftermarket intake?

No I dont have an aftermarket intake. The troubleshoooting code was P2004. The Definition for this is: Intake manifold runner control (IMRC) stuck open;
Explanation: has commanded the IMRC closed but detects it open
Probable cause: Short circuit condition, damaged IMRC actuator or solenoid, blocked vacuum hoses.

The truck is still running fine and I wiped the code and changed fuses but the check engine light still comes on. Any suggestions?

If funds are tight right now, You can run it like that until the cows come home - will do no damage. May lose a bit of power down low ( the IMRC is designed to enhance intake charge velocity - ergo, torque - at low speeds).

May not even notice: https://www.f150online.com/forums/4011545-post2.html

Better than having the 'stuck shut' code

To get at the IMRC & related components, some top-end disassembly is required - so the labour rate alone is gonna hurt (unless you can do the teardown yerself). Could not find the parts on RockAuto - no idea of cost.

BTW on a 5.4 3V it is also referred to as CMCV (Charge Motion Control Valves)... fyi in case you need to find more info ...

The tsb that the other member posted in the link you provided is interesting.......
Under service proceedure step #1

"Recalibrate with sludge compensation strategy"

Lazy bums! Ford would rather do a reflash than clean!

Should this affect my fuel economy? I'm only getting about 13 mpg or even less at times. Is this normal or should i be getting better?

Yes - it might - part of the premise behind this complexity is enhancing efficiency in the various operation regimes - part-throttle light load, WFO, etc ...

I said it would not hurt (the truck) but it wil not help (yer mileage). Get it addressed as soon as you are able.

I've been told the only way to really increase my fuel econemy is to put a chip in my truck. Do you have any suggestions as to a good affordable chip?
