Catalytic Converter(s) Stolen

We recently returned home from vacation and discovered that our street had been swept through by some lowlife with a sawzall. He cut the catalytic converters off of my 2010 F-150, wifes's nissan maxima, and my Chevy 2500HD work truck. Too bad we decided to take my old old car from college to the airport or he would have gotten that too. Several neighbors had the same thing in addition to busted out windows.
Question is what to do now about my F-150. Do I have to put the Cat back on? I was thinking of a Banks single exhaust anyway but don't know if a muffler shop will put one on with out the converter. Just looking for ideas since now might be the time to upgrade. I think our insurance is going to cover the damages but as we just returned home yesterday I am still looking into it. Maybe we should just build a bigger garage instead...

If you want it louder than it was before, you could buy a pair of Magnaflow 94106 cats. if you want it quiet, they make them too.

Put some Magnaflow #94306 cats in it if you want to keep the tone down a little, #94106s to open the rumble. Any shop should be able to install and re-mount your O2 sensors after them.

And be very strict on them to assure no leaks.

Wouldn't you love to catch someone under your truck? I'd bring out paintball and pellet guns and go to town! Would be fun to see how many times you can pepper the guy while he's sprinting down the block.

This thief isn't too smart, besides being a douche in the first place. They won't get much from a scrap dealer for them, maybe $10-$20 ea. I believe anything after 2000 the cats were made with different materials, not as much precious metals as the old cats. Older cats are worth about 10 times as much. When I put hiflows on mine I took my old cats to the scrap dealer, got $200 for em, hiflow only cost me $140.

Hope you catch the jackass.

Your half educated thief knows that the older cars are the ones with the more expensive materials. We've been getting hit hard here at work with reports of stolen cat's. They are hitting the dark used car lots with the older cars.

What material is present in a CAT that makes them so valuable? Since a police report was filed insurance is going to pick up the tab. After reading about the '10's and their exhaust I think I am just going to return it to stock. I pull a travel trailer and it seems like the stock setup is pretty good. Don't you lose some low end torque with an after market system? Besides I have custom tunes from 5-Star and would probably have to have them re-done. Would having no CAT and say a Banks exhaust still rob my low end torque? I know very little about exhaust systems except that a sawzall and bad intentions can lead to more questions.

Platinum, Palladium, and Rhodium are the common precious metals found inside a cat.
