Help with intake silencer delete

This evening I went to do the Gott's mod and intake silencer removal on my 01 5.4, but when I got the silencer housing off the throttle body and looked inside for the silencer tube, it did not look like I expected it too. Does anyone have a picture of the silencer inside the housing?

Edit: I should add the AB flex connector was still attached to the silencer housing. Also I was using the instructions from fordf150.net, at the bottom it says the silencer can be removed with cutting it out. Any help/suggestions would be appreciated?

I was able to get it out by grabbing onto it with needle nose pliers and twisting in till it broke the bond all the way around on both ends. Then just pulled it out.

The silencer restricts the air-flow back down to 2". That was my reasoning. Good luck, it was a PITA.

Removing the silencer on my '03 was easy. The hardest part was separating the rubber flex connector from the resonator as they are glued together. Once you have them apart, its a simple matter of taking a flathead screwdriver and carefully prying the silencer tube out.

BTW, I was one of the lucky few whose silencer just fell out after a slight tap.

Was it worth it? Well, there'so a little more noise between 2-3k, but remember this mod is free. I have done the gotts mod, cleaned my MAF sensor, and deleted the silencer and between those three there is a definite increase in the engine's responsiveness down low, and more passing power. Worth it?

well thanks for the replies guys. i'll probably do this mod at some point when i get around to it. the GOTTS itself is good enough for me right now, but a little more intake sound would be cool! (and possibly more throttle response haha)
