Getting exhaust work done in the morning

A Magnaflow #642-11219
4 x 9" Oval Muffler
In/Out: 3"
Body Length: 14"
Overall Length: 20"
Core Size: 3"

SI/SO exiting in factory position. Might go with a RBP tip or something later on when I can afford. :santa:

Anybody done much SI/SO exhaust? My father has a banks monster on his 06 but that wasn't in the price range. I really wanted to go 4" but the exhaust shop could only bend 3". I am looking for something alot like the Banks.

3" is the max you should go on a single pipe exhaust. I have a 3" dynomax bullet. Dont be surprised if the truck is not all that loud with the magnaflow. It will have a nice deep tone. I suggest spending the extra $20 and get a cheap 3.5" or 4" tip to have it temporarily, until you find one that you like/afford. It will sound better with a tip/without.

Thanks for the quick reply.
This setup is costing me $150 (All I have available to spend) but probley around christmas I am going to try to get a 5 or 4" double walled tip like the tip on the banks monster. I am surprised the tip makes that much difference in the sound.
Also, why is 3" the max? Not arguing, just curious. I know the banks is a 4" with a 5" tip.

Youll lose a lot of your low end tq with such big piping on a N/A motor.

Thanks again,
one more quick question... This exhaust shop doesn't mandrel bend. It does the pipe bending where there is ripples where the piping is compressed. Is this going to be ok? I know it will be a more restricted flow. They also have a flowmaster Si/so muffler instead that is a bit cheaper. I don't want it too loud. Just deep like the magnaflow but maybe a bit louder.

Go with the magnaflow and the ripples will be fine.

Thanks alot, Just picked it up today. For $150 I am very pleased with it.. I am glad I didn't spend $700 for the magnaflow cat back when this is the same thing - a tip.
Thanks for your help and reassurance.

Glad that you like it.

Just to clear things up the Banks kit has a 3" pipe from the factory y-pipe to the muffler, a 3" SI/SO muffler, a 3 1/2" tailpipe that is reduced to 3" on the inlet end, and either a 5" or 5" x 6" tip depending on how old the kit is.

True the intermediate pipe is 3", Muffler is a 3" in and 3" out and the tailpipe is 3.5" and my banks kit has the 5" round tip but newer ones has a oblong tip good catch 08fx4

Thanks for clarifying,
I went and double checked on dads exhaust. His is the older style with the round tip too.
I am liking the magnaflow, the exact sound of the banks at the same rpm's, just a bit toned down.

The stock piping for most F150's is 2.5" you know that right?
