Pacesetter longtube headers
Screw cats. YOU DONT NEED CATS. Its like the EPA around here, everyone flips when someone is putting an offroad pipe on. I dont have Cats on ANY of my vehicles. And They breathe better, Better sound, More power.
Simply get your custom tune done for long tube headers and no cats. Thats the way to go IMO. Unless your a tree huggin cat lover that cant speew a few Carbons into the air. Al Gores global warming is a CROCK anyway.
And you'll save yourself quite a bit of money considering how expensive Hi flow cats are

I'm not worried about the .07% of man made green house gasses. Of that .07% is all of man made gasses, not just vehicle.
Yea i guess i will have to see what ill do. i will probably end up getting high flows at some point but im not going to worry too much right now. I am 18 years old and just spent $600 on headers and dont really want to throw $200 up right away haha. i just got my inspection so i wont have to worry about that for awhile and i know tons of people in my area that are running no cats. My truck isnt going to be very loud anyways with the setup i am running so im not too worried about any cops being suspicious of no cats and getting under my truck to look. Migdaddy, i also still wanted to confirm that the custom tune will not interfere with my edge programmer in anyway? I dont think it will but just curious. Thanks!
You need a good tune as everone has said now as far cat placement they need to be kept hot for them to do their job properly and not throw a code, the mustang 02 simulators and extenders from bbk work on a 03 anything newer ??? maybe.
A custom tune depending on what you get the rear catalyst monitors can be turned off depending what you have and who you have tune it but keep the pacesetter y-pipe buy the high flow cats from pace setter 80-0068 remove a piece of the y-pipe equal to the new cats and either (a)weld in the cats (b) bump them up at a exhaust shop to fit over y-pipe use band style exhaust clamps (c)use cats as is butt connect to y-pipe with band style exhaust clamps
I have the option b set up on my 03 5.4 4x2 long tubes y pipe 2 cats flowmaster super 44 (a little different but same idea ) and this combo rocks you wont regret the power and SOUND

you will get with the proper exhaust and yes mine passes the ol smog sniffer !

dont be dumb seriously. dont listen to one guy that does it (or Avfrog
). I, along with many many many other guys on here recommend running 2 high flow cats. If you get caught without any cats, your SOL. Your fined and your truck will be impounded. Its not worth it dude. High flow cats are cheap anyways. I dont know what Drick thinks hes talking about...more power without cats? your talking fractions of HP. Youll get the same amount, if not more with high flows AND your not running illegal. Your gas mileage will be in the dumps for sure too w/out cats, and it sounds trashy. http://www.jegs.com/i/Magnaflow/642/...0002/-1?CT=999 $130 is soooo expensive, not. considering your already spending the big dough on headers. Trust me dont be a fool. Order those cats (from other vendors too) and youll be out the door with installation at $200. Spend the $200 and do it right, without risking spending thousands and thousands if your caught.

And they sure as hell wont impound your truck like they do in Comminornia lol.
They give you a fix it ticket and send you on your way here. But I dont know one person that they even get without them.
It depends on your location. Obviously if you live in Commifornia it would be dumb to run without cats because you have god knows how many emmisions tests a year. But if you dont have any form of testing then dont run em.

Cali smog requires you to be checked every 2 years by a shop, which sends the data automatically via DMV. Every 4 years is the smog only, which is the real PITA. But i will agree. It does depend on where you live. Just be smart about it thats all.
I love it! Some hate it tho.I dont know the emmisions testing in Texas if they have any or not but its just another option
Yea, we do have to pass an emissions test every year in Texas although they arent all that strict about it. I will put some high flows on sometime before next summer but im not going to worry about it too much until then. Thanks for everybodys input.
lets just say i agree with migdaddy though. i am from texas as well but for 75 bucks for maggie high flows they are well worth the money. i turned off the rear o2 sensors and have as much flow as without but am legal in any state without paying someone under the table for an inspection. i also ran without for 2 months but now with i am MUCH happier. they actually sound extremely loud in cabin without the cats and with they sound more calmer inside but just as loud outside the truck.
when it comes to a tune, use the existing tuner you have and make sure it adjust to the cai and your fine. you could do what i did and add 2% fuel at WOT and benefit from the lt's. you dont actually need a custom tune but just be able to change the tuner settings to your liking.
But if i do choose to do the custom tune it will not interfere with my existing edge right?? Or will they do the custom tune using the edge? I am not really sure how it works but just want to get a basic understanding before i take it in. I will probably definitely take it in to have it tuned givin the fact i really have no idea what i need to change in the edge settings. I would rather just take it in and not screw something up haha
they will write a tune for the truck custom but will use your programmer to accept it and enter into your computer (flash it). that will actually get you the best results and the most usable power.
