2010 OEM Exhaust Piping

Haven't been able to find an exact answer for this. Is the stock piping 2.5 or 2.25? I'm thinking of swapping out the muffler, and I have some Magnaflow mufflers in mind, but wanted to match the muffler inlet and outlet with the exact pipe size.

Not only is it 2.75, it is smooth (mandrel) bent stainless steel. I have the same on my '09 and haven't been able to convince myself to change it. I wish I knew how a 24" Magnaflow or large Borla XS performs compared to my stock system.

^ Performs? Better would be the answer. Both of those muffler dramatically out flow a stock muffler.

I wish there was some test data to prove this. I know that Ford redesigned the exhaust for the '09 - '10 to improve the flow. Perhaps the stock muffler is on-par with the aftermarket mufflers, perhaps it isn't even close - I don't have any data to know.

BTW, the CAI for the '09 is a good example of how an aftermarket part looks like it would outperform the stock intake, but test data indicates that it does not. Anyone have test data for the new stock mufflers?

Unless doing major upgrades to your truck, a simple muffler swap, or cat-back is not going to get you anything noticeable but sound. Its just purely a sound change.

Currently, this is the muffler I am looking at: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=8561

I want a change in sound, but I also don't want there to be a lot of highway drone.

More like:

Don't by THAT Magnaflow. 14"-18" oval body with stock cats will have hardly any drone.

I second that. I have a 14" Magnaflow installed and it drones like crazy around 65mph. It has only gotten worse, im thinking of buying the Banks catback system. If you went with a 18" and a resonated tip it might not be that bad. Im not going to take another chance and im just going to purchase a catback system. Know I see why they call the magnaflows magnadrone . On top of that the sound really isnt that great, its more like a humm at all RPMs.

I'll agree 100%, but size doesnt seem to matter. I've had two 18" magnaflows, and one 14" magnaflow and they were all horrible with drone, especially towing. i've had roush off road and super44 that were both excellent NO DRONE FROM THEM!!!!!

Just plain stay away from magnaflow if you dont want drone. Also I agree the sound of the maggies on these trucks is definitely not as pleasing as others are. The roush/borls style to me sound the best.

I just could never believe the roush was twice as loud outside the truck as the magnaflows i had, but interior wise was perfect. No drone ever, great sound, not overpowering at all inside either.
Maybe i should had kept that kit for my 2010... oh well..
