Gibson Exhaust Disgust
Stainless steel won't rot out like aluminized piping does from road salt. There's a chance but it takes a lot longer.
hmmmm. so im not the only one that had this problem. i bought one for my 07 f150 and a month and a half ago it did the same thing as yours. im now in the process of arguing with performancepeddler.com to get my magnaflow exhaust exchanged for a model that fits my truck. im lucky i kept my factory exhaust

If you have had an aluminized exhaust piping on your truck for three to five years up here in road salt country then it has seen a good life.

Yeah, here I've had aluminized pipes last 11-12 years, my '77 is on it's second set with the first set put on in '87.
My '07 has a catback with aluminized, very well done, tips perfectly located, etc .... don't know how old but I'ld say maybe 2-3 years max on it, probably get another fewout of it. I'll maybe get a SS systyem next time for it.
Pennsylvania winters are rough I hear.

. I wash the entire under body, and even wax the frame. I'll compare it to any southern vehicle any day. Nothing says "low value old vehicle" more than a dirty rusty under body.
Magnaflow vs Gibson (SI/SO)
Well, I installed my stainless steel Magnaflow SI/SO cat back system yesterday. It really is a nice system. It gives my truck a slightly throatier sound when idling and cruising, but really give a nice deep purr when heavy on the gas.
Magnaflow vs Gibson (both are SI/SO)
1. Magnaflow - The oval muffler tucks under the truck allowing for a little more muffler protection. Gibson's muffler was a round tube that was more exposed under the truck.
2. Gibson's exhaust note is a little throaty in the low rpms, but dissapears in the upper rpms when not towing. When towing heavy, the sound resonates into the cab and can get a little loud.
Magnaflow's sound makes my F150 sound like a well tuned Mustang when not towing. It has a very deep note/rumble that is not deafening at all. I haven't towed with it yet to tell you that it sounds like. With normal driving you can hear it probably 50% throatier than the Gibson.
Conclusion
I definetly prefer the Magnaflow sound and setup to the Gibson. It is comfortable to be a daily driver and still lets you know that you are driving with a V8 and doesn't dissapear when you jump on the gas. My final test will be when I tow heavy with the Magnaflow system.
I want to get some shorty headers next. Anyone have any suggestions? Why...
