Y-pipe after muffler?
Y-pipe after muffler?
So I recently dumped my exhaust on my 4.2. I have an 18" Magnaflow SI/DO muffler, that's all I can say. I am no wanting to go back to a SI/SO setup, but had a question.
I don't wont to spend the money to go buy a new muffler then pay to have it installed along with a new tail pipe...so here is my question.
Can I add a Y-pipe to collect the dual exits from the muffler into a single pipe? I know it will mess with the flow a little bit, but honestly, how much flow can a 4.2 with 148k miles have?
:o
So would this be a feasible option to save a few dollars, and still keep the general sound of the exhaust?

haha, its all good. i actually asked the muffler shop about back pressure when i had my exhaust installed. it was only later when i really started to read around here that i learned that it would be pretty difficult to have backpressure problems on our trucks...
