Exhaust system suggestions

Hey guys. I'm looking to make my truck sound a little more manly if you know what i mean. I have a '94 F150 XL 4.9L V6. its a standard and it is really quiet. I need some help on where to start. Should i go for an exhaust system like an American Thunder Flowmaster or should i go for a catalytic converter or muffler. Exhaust systems look pretty expensive and i'm on a small budget. Will a new muffler or catalytic converter have the same results as an exhaust system? Thanks

It pains me to say it, but I suggest a Flowmaster 40 series SIDO or SISO. Now where are my suicide pills.

you've got the 4.9L 300 cubic straight six, not V6...unless I'm mistaken. I had a buddy that had one of these. He had a glasspack and duals running out the back with big tips. It didn't sound too bad actually.

The I6 didn't sound that bad, but with a straight through muffler it will still give off a ricer sound. Stick to the Flowmaster, or a glasspack, or Cherrybomb Extreme.

What do you mean? Louder is more manly?

I disagree but I know I'm in the minority on this one.

i had an I-6 years ago. I tried a SIDO flowmaster 40 and didn't care for it. It was to quiet. I ended up straight piping it, sounded better but it is hard to make them sound good. Youtube and look for what you want.

Magnaflow question

I just bought an '07 KR with low miles and want to do some mods that will help me boost performance and still maintain the class of the KR. I owned an
'01 Lightning before this and installed a Magnaflow 15714 side exit cat back with 2.5" pipes and loved it.
I'm undecided as to which Maggy cat back will work best for mr on my KR, the 16523 with (2) 2.5" pipes or the 16518 with the 3" single pipe.

Any experience or feedback on these systems would be welcome

Thanks...
