just got a 2008 screw fx4. looking into doing true duels with either bullets or straight piped. Looked on youtube to see what one i like better. Is there anyone on here that has had both maybe video with the same camera. It is hard to tell on you tube because of different cameras. What are the pros and cons of each. Thanks for your input guys.

 

Bottom line, straights sound like s***. Bullets, have the volume and aggression as straights, without rasping awfully, and sounding deeper. Get the bullets.

My video is shot with a Sony camcorder with an external mic with a windscreen. The fresh out the shop part did not have the ext. mic attached, but the cold start & above do. Picks the sound up perfectly. At the way end of the video my truck is run with the Bullets slipped on, straights, and Cherry Extremes, all are with the same camcorder.

What's the break in time on the bullets? Are they like the old glasspacks in that they eventually burn out and are essentially hollow? Mine are going on this week and I was just curious how long until you start noticing them getting a little louder.

I think mine got louder in about 2 months. Not sure though because I put my bullet on in March but the weather warmed up after 2 months. So I'm wondering if they just got louder because the weather warmed up and they were flowing much better.

about how many miles have you put on them in that 2 months? My truck only sees about 6,xxx miles a year, so "2 months" for you and "2 months" for me may be completely different. Its not a daily driver for me, just a play vehicle.

Again, I'm not sure about whether 2 months is a "break-in" period but they seemed to be louder after that. Something I forget to mention, Friday I got my custom tune and it actually made my exhaust sound louder and clearer, so it took a minute to be even louder. LOL
I'm a contractor, so I drive all over the place depending on where the work is. Right now 2 months of driving is between 3000-3500 miles but back then 2 months was only +/-1000 miles. We'll see what Darren says, he knows more about exhausts than I do.

 

Bullets, hands down.

 

I have about 2K miles on my bullets and they louder and deeper then the day I drove away from the shop.

 

I would say 1,000 miles for a single, 2500 for duals, maybe a little more. I have currently 1,259.2 miles on my Bullets since I first got them and they have opened up quite a bit. More straight heart rumble, more acceleration valley filling sound, its awesome. Still clear toned too.
