Good Exhaust/Intake?

Alright, I have a 1999 Ford F150 and I'm looking into possibly putting an exhaust and intake on it. I was shopping around and found AmericanTrucks.com and it seems like they have some good prices. Only wondering now if the products I want are worth it or not...

Exhaust- Flowmaster Force II Catback Exhaust System (98-03 F150 4.6/5.4L). They have this for $379.99... Seems like a good deal to me.

Intake- JLT Cold Air Intake (97-03 F-150 4.6L/5.4L). This is only $149.99 and I really like the look of it, it's not at an angle like others so it will look "different" then most.

Are these two products worth the price? Would I be looking at a big performance upgrade or is the bang not worth the buck? To me, it seems decent for under $600 and a lot of stuff for a low price, but I want to know the opinions of others before I go diving into anything.

My truck has a 5.4L V8 Triton in it fyi with 86,XXX miles.

Gotts Mod looks interesting. I can't view pictures right now though because I'm at work and most of the image hosting sites are blocked...

I use to have a 1997 Explorer and I remember taking the stock intake and basically cutting the end of it off and putting a cone filter on the end. Basically a cold air intake make from stock parts with a new end. It seemed to work pretty well.

So it's basically just removing the silencer?

the silence can come out also, but you are opening up the cone on the end that chokes the air coming in from the fender

And the PVC pipe is basically put into the fender so the intake has something to clamp down onto. You open the end of the intake up and connect it to the PVC pipe, opening it up... So it's just making it a true 3" diameter all the way... And remiving the silencer is optional...

Seem like I get it?

How bad would it be to cut the exhaust past the cat and put a glasspack on it and dump it under the bed?

I would say there are better cat-backs out there, Magnaflow, Borla, and Gibson. Stainless steel, straight through design with a deep note.

Will hum inside a little bit, not too bad with the stock 4 cats.

I've been reading about a lot of people cutting the muffler out as well and just dumping it with only stock cats... Might give that a shot and then add a muffler if I feel it's needed. Listened to some videos of trucks running without mufflers, but with cats, and they didn't sound bad.

Na they sound decent. Tailpipes with tips will be louder outside than dumping though. Throws the sound further away. True duals no mufflers sounds much better, cleaner, and less crackly/poppy than a muffler chop out too.
