04 -06 cat exhaust question

I went in to talk to my local muffler shop, and told them I was thinking about cutting the cat. and adding a maggie, and dueling it out. he said he wouldn't do this because 1. I would have to weld on a short section of pipe so that he can work on it past the cat point. 2. The O2 sensors don't read right because there is no blackflow pressure created. He did say that if I welded my own pipe on, he had heard of people who found an insert for the O2 sensor that would tell the computer that everything was fine, and override the computer. Is this what most people who cut their cats do? Is this a good idea for my exhaust, or would you guys do somthing different. THANKS

BLACK flow pressure? Wow, ultimate exhaust shop fail, i've heard some good ones too, but you probably meant backpressure, which is still a failure.

The O2s will give a CEL from too much carbon flowing and not being filtered by a catalytic converter catalyst. If you are going to run no cats, you can only do so sucessfully by getting custom tuned to make up the lean condition, eliminating any codes, and having the best power to the wheels possible. Those O2 extension/simulators you are talking about will give a false reading to the sensor, which only kills the CEL, it still wont run great.

I would recommend, hi-flow cats before running an illegal system. I'm not a tree humper environment person, but the fines of running no cats are high and I would hate to hear of someone getting fined for it. Get hi-flow cats so you can still pass an emissions sniffer if you ever needed to, and when the cop looks under he'll see cats.

haha whoops, yea I didn't mean black. thanks for the advise, I think i'll stick with stock cats for now, get the duels x'd and run a maggie, with 4'' tips at rear. I like 45, like yours for exit locations as well.

^ If you put them on backwards, would that be a back flow cat?
