New used 2001 Screw. looking for advice on mods
I just got a used 2001 2wd 5.4 Super Crew truck and plan to use it as my bad weather driver and when I need to carry things. It has 150k miles on it and has everything still stock on it. I have done a little reading and came across the Gotts Mod which was simple and easy to do which I did las night. When doing the Gotts mod doess it help to change out OE filter to K&N or S&B style etc.? Mine is filthy so I will need to change to something.
I am still debating on the silencer mod.
I wanted to also get rid of the stock exhaust to get some noise but not popping like glasspacks or straights volume. I have read tones of posts about this and still undecided. First choice, I am thinking a DI/DO after the cats (Maybe something like the Magnaflow tru-x muffler Magnaflow 12468) Or will a SI/DO be just a beneficial? Not looking to improve performance as much as I am wanting a good sound. Does the "X" in the muffler benifit over the "Y" that is already there? Sure the SI/DO would be cheaper by about $50 but is the sound or performance benifit a lot different?
Thanks

If your old filter is dirty, you can replace it with about any filter. They all perform the same.
If you want to go with a DIDO muffler, then you're going true dual. That get pretty expensive depending on the pipe material and bends. SIDO is cheaper and can sound better than true dual's if done with the proper parts. Check out 08FX4 or TruckGuy24's vids.
